Using the breast cancer drug Herceptin in patients with stomach cancer could help extend their lives by a quarter, new research has suggested. Adding Herceptin to standard chemotherapy treatment appears to prolong the lives of patients with advanced stomach cancer on average by nearly 2.7 months to 13.8 months - a 26 per cent increase in survival.
