When reading about different remedies on the Internet and trying to pass on this information to my doctor, I am treated like a child who questions their parents and the parent thinks it is cute. Doctors have been taught an arrogance that closes them to new ideas or remedies that are being found out by people who have the disease. This attitude reminds me of when the clergy and King had education and the serfs had to obey. Doctors must stop hiding behind the world of Medical Arts and move to science and internet communication. Getting many minds together to solve a problem is better than relying on medical education that goes stale after a few years unless a doctor keeps up. Not all doctor that I have experienced are keeping up with the state of the disease. Opening up communication can save lives. Doctors should get on board.

You should not hesitate to  discuss your researched findings with your health care provider.  Sometimes it helps to bring the articles or papers that you have found with you to your doctor.  Make him a copy also.  And follow up to see that he or she can comment latelr if not at the time of the appointment.  There is so much for health care professionals to keep up with these days.  What you may be reading about may not yet be clinically available or approved yet,  but it doesn't mean that you can't access it or something like it somewhere.  You are your best advocate, so do persist in obtaining answers to your questions, but know what you are talking about or at least have the details at hand.  And there is always the second opinion.
