Treatment for recurrent

My doc wants to begin treating me with doxorubicin after taxotere has failed. I was initially treated with taxol and carboplatin and went into remission for 9 months. I am apprehensive. He tells me there is a 20% chance it will work. Does anyone have any similar experiences or knowledge of this treatment regime?

High Grade endometrial stromal sarcoma

Hi there,I'm new to this site, but have been looking for an online support group. I have high grade endometrial stromal sarcoma, stage 1b. I was diagnosed in April of this year after bleeding sent me to my gynecologist. She thought it was fibroids...until I passed a large mass the week before a scheduled hysterectomy. The mass was biopsied and determined to be cancer. I had a hysterectomy performed by a gynecological oncological surgeon. I've also had 25 rounds of radiation and 8 rounds of chemo (Ifosomide, and Adriomycin). I have one more chemo treatment and find myself oddly depressed because now I'm worried about reoccurence. Is there anyone out there with a similar story? Wing and Prayer

I am a 38 year old mother of two ages 9 and 6 who was diagnosed with Stage IV endometrial cancer in July of this year. The drs. found a mass (2 cm large) on my right rib, spotting in my right lung, spotting in my abdomen and in my lymph nodes. They started me on Carboplatin and Taxol and last week I had my CT scan. It showed that the endometrial tumor has shrunk, lung has cleared however the lymph nodes have either stayed the same or have gotten larger, some new spots in the lymph nodes were found as well as some new spots in my abdomen. They decided to add a third chemo med called Amend. Anyone out there that has done this? I want to do everything possible to beat this thing - any suggestions from anyone ro words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

memorial donations

In the coming day or two, I will unfortunately be losing my mom to endometrial cancer. She has fought with every ounce of energy for two years, but the cancer finally caused her decline in the past couple months. To this moment she is still of the mindset of wanting to beat the disease. She refused to give in.She is a hero to her friends and family. I would like to hear if others on the board know where research is being done to rid us of this disease. I believe it would be a fitting memorial to find a charity who is truly dedicated to endometrial cancer and reproductive cancer for women. If anyone has suggestions, it is greatly appreciated.

Newly Diagnosed....

Just thought I would share my story. I was just diagnosed with Stage 1 Endometrial Cancer. I am 38 years old with no children. I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure about 3 years ago. My body wasn't producing the Estrogen I needed, so I went on HRT to bring the levels back up to where they should be for a woman my age. I did not have a period for about 3 years (which led me to the doctor and diagnosis of premature ovarian failure). I've been told I'm menopausal, but have not experienced all the symptoms of menopause. I had some abnormal bleeding which sent me into the doctor. They performed a D&C, found some small polyps and cancerous cells in the lining of my uterus. I got in for a hysterectomy in about 3 weeks. They will look at the uterus to determine if it's gone into the walls of the uterus. If so, they will biposy the lymph nodes to ensure nothing has spread. What a complete surprise to me about this all. How strange the body can develop such an enemy such as cancer. The doctor is confident and optomistic that the cancer cells will be limited to the lining of my uterus and nothing further. The only symptoms I experienced was abnormal bleeding. If I can offer any advice to someone "wondering" about their health or issues...."YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS YOUR BODY AND IF SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT. IF YOU FEEL SOMETHING IS WRONG, GO INTO THE DOCTOR, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE..TAKE ACTION. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SHOT AT LIFE AND ONE BODY, DON'T IGNORE ANY SYMPTOMS, FACE THE MUSIC AND IN THE END YOU WILL LIVE A LONGER AND HAPPY LIFE"!!38- Diagnosed with Stage 1 Endometrial Cancer

Not much time left?

My mom (57) was dx 8/08 with Stage IV Endometrial Cancer that metastatised in her liver, lungs, brain, and bones. Currently she is on the 10th day of her hospital stay because of extreme weakness and pain from the bone metastatis around her hips. Her oncologist came to see us tonight and basically let us know that she has less then 6 months because her body is too weak from radiation, he's afraid to do any chemo for a few weeks until she can get stronger, get her blood and platelet count up. By the time he'll be able to try a new chemo he's afraid that the cancer will just continue to spread. So what I'm looking at now is different options. Me and my dad don't know if she'll want to continue fighting. She is on some strong pain killers so we haven't had a chance to talk with her. Now I'm looking at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Probably their location in Chicago. Anyone have any experience with them?-Oscar

desparate and frightened

Hi, 2 weeks ago I had my first pap smear in 4yrs the results showed abnormal cells and says this is very unusal for someone who is 44yrs oldMy doctor wants to do an endrometrial biopsy.I been reading on the internet and I'm frightened because I have had stomach and pelvic pain for a while, even feeling faint when i eat.In the summer i got shingles and a month ago my groin area became inflamed and blisters developed on my legs and lumps around my vagina.I also feel tightness of my chest and find it hard to breathe at times.I am really worried as they say if abnormal cells appear in pap smear and they prove to be cancerous then the cancer is well advanced.Has anyone got any advice or has experience of similar symtoms?I really worried and driving myself crazy.Thankyou for reading this and for any experiences/comments you can share.

Should I do radiation

I have had my second cancer surgery with the last being Endometrial Cancer. They believe they have gotten all of it. I have completed my third chemo. treatment and they are saying I should have 25 sessions of radiation. Since the radiation would be very close to my colon and bladder I'm affraid it will damage these two areas and cause more problems. What should I do? Mary

Recurrent Endometrial Cancer

I am looking for more info on recurrent endometrial cancer. I was dx with Stage 1C Grade 2 endometrial cancer in Feb. 2007. I had surgery and internal radiation. In Feb. of 2008 I was dx with RECURRENT endometrial cancer. I never heard of this. With surgery I was assurred I was totally fine - go home enjoy life. The cancer recurred in peritoneum and liver. Two treatments of chemo carboplatin and taxol and the tumors were resolved. I completed 7 total treatments of chemo. Now, no cancer but watchful waiting. I hate it. Can anyone refer me to a MD for second opinion. A million thanks. Connie

melanoma

I was diagnosed with melanoma on the pelvic area by a gynecologist and in fact they were boils that have almost disappeared since taking antibodiodicts for a week. She also done a scraping of the uterus and an infection set in, that is why I started the antibiodicts Yesterday I had an ulta sound and the gp at the emergency room said they could not see my ovaries but that is not uncommon in older women after menopause I am now so confused I don't think I want to have the hystro-scopic I stopped my periods 15 years ago and have had vaginal spotting for quite some time I am starting to think I would be better off taking my chances and forgetting abourt doctors and hoping for the best My blood work is very good as well as the white blood cell count.

Looking for a BLOG companion with the same diagnosis for dialogue

I have been recently diagnosed with endometrial clear cell carcinoma; it was discovered during a recent hysterectomy; the procedure was originally ordered because of enlarged uternine fibroids and the pathology report that followed indicated another major medical problem. I have been resting at home post surgery, and receiving home care because the incision became infected 3 days after hospitalization. I have had intravenous antibotics and am slowly recovering from the infection. I have had a CAT scan and do not know the results until next week when I meet with the specialist. I have been looking for someone who has had the same type of diagnosis and would like to discuss treatments, and other emotional issues related to the cancer scare.I tried to find a CancerComrade at the their website location and although Colleen is making every effort to locate someone for me online, to date she still hasn't found anyone and recommended the Blog here.I am at home alone most days. My 84 year old mother, who not in the best of health, lives in the inlaw apartment downstairs. My husband continues to work while I am on extended sick. Our only child died ten years ago of neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Other than the three of us, there are very few family members on whom we can rely in our time of need. The days can be very long and it is hard to do a lot of self talk to stay positive. I do have faith in God and have used prayer to sustain my strength. However, since there are no answers yet to date, the unknown is very straining emotionally. There is almost too much information of the net and at times it is difficult to understand how the diagnosis and treatments apply to you individually.Needless to say, I need to find someone with whom I share. Is there anyone that shares or has experienced the same diagnosis?

Adenomyosis

I had my ovaries,Fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and the ligaments that went from my uterus to my spine removed. I was having pain and long periods where I'd have to wear two overnight sanitary napkins at a time to keep from bleeding through. I believe I was told that I had Adenomyosis by a couple of gals that came to my house from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Institute as they were doing a study. My gynecologist told me nothing and the surgical part was so traumatic and painful that over a month later when I saw him again ( I was in and saw his RN two weeks after) I was still crying because of his treatment of me and the pain as he was the only DR. on staff that didn't believe in the pain pumps. I woke up in pain and kept waiting to be "hooked" up for pain relief and it never came. 3 hours later when I asked, the RN came in with a shot and asked me arm or rear. I was cut from hip to hip and it was like being harpooned by that time. They wouldn't put it in IV but said it had to be IM. I was never told I had cancer but to be cleaned out like a Halloween Pumpkin for what he said was "You've got black spots" after a biopsy is questionable. He said the surgery would take under 1 hour when I went in and my husband said that the Dr. came out after three hours. Is this normal? I was told I didn't need paps any more but wondering if I should seek advice elsewhere. Anyone have similar experience and does this sound like cancer to you? I'm currently fighting 2nd year of aggressive thyroid cancer, and my aunt was diagnosed as having ovarian cancer a few years ago. CLL
