maxillary cancer and obturator

I had my upper jaw (maxilla) and hard palate(roof) of mouth removed in January. I now have an obturator that works OK. Anyone else have a similar situation? Having nothing to attach the obturator to means probably no chewing ever. I still have a PEG tube in now. Any thoughts would be appreciated. This has been one long year! I had everything so far done at UCLA. The obturator slips arounds, my mucous/saliva gags me, the PEG tube hurts at times, half my face and lips are still numb, my ears ring...I think that almost covers it! LOL!
Nancy
Thanks, Nancy

dental problems due to radiation treatment

Does anyone know of any support or help with funding fro someone that has suffered severe dental problems due to Radiation treatment. My friend's teeth are literally breaking off and falling out out of his mouth due the damage left by radiation, he has very little plate left so just regular dentures are not an option, one reccomendation was hyperbaric chamber treatments to build up the plates in the jaw so he could support dental implants, any and all repsonses are welcome. There is also a problem with cost so far the best estimate they been given for the total procedures is $80,000. Im sure ther are ways to do it cheaper and I have to belelive there are ways to get help paying for it..need your help desperately

The symptom of cancer of jaw.?

Numerous types of cancer can be located in the jaw bone. Symptoms would
be pain, swelling, loose teeth, unexplained dental infections, possible
sinus pain, unexplained numbness, bleeding in the mouth, fevers and
other symptoms. You would not have to have all these symptoms, just one
or two that do not resolve within a couple weeks. If you are taking a
drug like Fosamax you should consider whether you might have
osteonecrosis of the jaw - a serious but benign bone condition of the
jaw bone. Just about any type bone cancer or oral cancer could manifest
in the jaw so the list of potential cancers of the jaw is very long.

Fosamax Side Effects

I have noticed articles on Fosamax side effects recently.
Here is one in USA Today www.usatoday.com/news/health/2005-03-13-jawbone-deaths_x.htm.
One side effect that is mentioned is severe jaw bone problems called
"DEAD JAW" or Osteonecrosis of the jaw. I also found a law firm that is working with Fosamax users. The name is Threadgill Law Offices.
Hope you found this information helpful
