Watch and wait up to now. Last week treated for pneumonia and had to have fluid removed from outside of the left lung. Dr. is now talking about possibility of starting treatment - I assume after he recovers from the pneumonia. Spleen is slightly enlarged, possibly some lymph node involvement. He has mentioned Campath along with Pentostatin(sp?) and Flurodobine (sp?) She was diagnosed in Dec 99 to have colon cancer from a routine colonoscopy.  Had surgery to remove 12 inches of colon in Jan 00 and has sailed through with flying colors without a trace anywhere else. March 07 she was in for another routine physical and her WBC was elavated enough to flag her PCP's attention and have her come in to see her oncologist she had been seeing for the colon cancer scare.  He tested her and thought at first she had CLL and treated her for this with chemo.  She was on this for several weeks.  Was off it for a while to see how her numbers went, but as soon as she was off, the numbers changed...so he had us to see a specialist in Nashville.  It was there that they discovered she did not have CLL, but PLL and the worse type, T-Cell.  They immediately put her on Campath for a few weeks and she went into a type of remission.  She did fine, numbers stable for a while, then in April 08, had some lesions to show up on her right eye and needed surgery to get a biopsy and remove floaters.  With the interruption of anti-biotics and prednisone, I believe it affected her quieted TPLL and now having high WBC and very low platlets...had to have transfusion on Tuesday of 2 units of blood and 1 of platlets.  She feels great again and on Monday will be put back on Campath.  I'm hoping for good results as we had last time, only no more interruptions, please!  There were no studies being done for TPLL when we checked last week, but hoping something may come available. If any of you know of a study being done, would you please post? Thanks for your stories...it is so good to hear about the successes. http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,26428,0.htm Instructor Thu, 24 Jul 2008 00:00:00 GMT
