Testicular Cancer

Hi all,
My name is Timmy Costa and I am a senior at Menlo School in Atherton, CA. I am taking an Anatomy class right now and for a project we were assigned a chronic illness. I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. For the past couple of weeks I have been researching the topic online, but I would like to get a feel for what it is like to actually live with the cancer. If you are willing to share your story with me please reply!

Thanks for your consideration,
Timmy Costa

back and stomach pain.

about 22 yrs ago I had a vasectomy. One testicle was always more tender than the other. I have had 5 hip rep.l knee rep. and a severe back. I am in alot orf pain which I attribute to my back problems. The pain has become more constant and about a 7-8 on the pain scale. I take oxycodone when it gets to bad to handle. My question is. my right testicle is very sensitive and has a lump that seems to be getting bigger where they burned and cliped the testicle. Its starting to feel more like I was kicked in the nuts. the right testicle is about 1 1/2 times the size of the other and sore to the touch. could this be testiclular cancer instead of the back pain i have had most of my life. I liken it to having a fish hook in my side going just under my rib cage and coming out my back. my psa is always good. starting to get worried.

Looking for help to be cancer free?

First I would say no one understands what it means to have cancer or have a loved one who suffers from this disease. My name is Pamela velafuert I was diagosed with Ovarian cancer 5 years ago and I thought my world was over. I went from one specialist to the other and nothing worked and then I decided to turn in for spiritual guidance. I actually was not a beliver in spiritual healing and positive imaging. Yes you have heard of it. Well today I can tell you I am cancer free a SURVIVOR. Please do not let this ordeal take your loved ones from you. It is not wrong to try all options available. If you want to have this information please feel free to ask any question and I will respond.

Keeping cancer secret

Last night, my 34-year-old brother revealed to me, after much prodding and prying, that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer three years ago. I am the very first person he's told, and he swore me to secrecy, saying that he didn't want to burden our parents with this knowledge, because everything will be fine. He said that his chance of survival "is better than 50/50, I'll put it that way". He's had a bit of a rough go at it in life, and feels that he's caused our parents enough heartache already. If he were to tell them, there's a fear that the news would have a negative impact on their health and quality of life. The family has known that something was going on with him, but we chalked it up to being depressed about a recent breakup with the mother of his one and a half year old son. The truth is much scarier. He's lost about 60 pounds in the last few months, and said he is receiving chemotherapy currently and essentially making excuses for being gone (to see the doctor) several times a week. I tried to get him to agree to let me go to the doctor with him, but he won't allow it. I'm not sure what to believe in terms of what he's being told, what the prognosis is, since he's being so secretive. For my part, I'm still in shock. I feel like this is the kind of life situation in which you need the support and understanding of especially your family. If I put myself in my parents' place, I would want to know the truth. I really can't believe my brother has gone through this alone up to this point. It breaks my heart to think of him prying himself out of bed after a sleepless night to go to work, feeling terrible, and talking to no one about what's going on. This morning the tears have come for me. I am torn about keeping this a secret as my brother wishes, or forcing him to accept the love and support of his family and allowing us to share this journey with him. What would you do?

Testicular cancer

I have testicular cancer stage 3 with liver and retro peritoneal mets and neck node mets. I received 4BEP with normalization of markers but the nodes have increased in size and orchidectomy done shows mature teratoma. My surgeons fel the nodes and multiple liver mets are not resectable as they encase the aorta and IVC and both lobes of liver have 8-10 mets.
Should I get more chemotherapy?

Read my manuscript about my husband's battle with Testicular cancer (FREE)

My husband was thirty-six when he was diagnosed with Testicular cancer back at the beginning of January 2011. He had surgery and endured four cycles of chemotherapy, twenty rounds in all. As of May 2011, he’s been cancer-free. He went through hell and made it back stronger than ever and for this my family is grateful. He does have lingering side effects from the chemo, but thankfully they’re not life-threatening. They’re uncomfortable at times, but Eric has learned to live with them.

Back when he was diagnosed, I chose to write about what we were going through because I needed a way to cope. I also wanted a way to educate people about what chemotherapy entails. In articulating what we went through, I hoped to give hope to those who have been diagnosed or have loved ones or friends with this disease. I’ve decided to post it on my blog in an attempt to reach anyone who would like to read what my family went through. Parts of it are extremely personal, but in revealing the everyday issues and or hardships we faced I hope to help others.

Click or copy and paste the links below to read my husband's inspiring story!

Just hope this keeps working

I have had advance prostrate cancer since 2007. I tried to get conventional treatment but due to a heart condition it made most conventional treatment to danerous. It ended up in my ribs, my lower back, and my lower Jaw. But since then the only treatment I have had is a low cab diet vitamins and grand up aprecot pits every day and over the years it work out well. But a while a go I got a bad case of the flu. I just could not stomach have this again and the flu as well, so for five weeks I went off it. But one day I felt pain in one of my testicles ,and it was slowly getting worse. as it was starting to really ache. and when I felt, the tactical, I found there was a small lump. I went wite with shock from my pass I know conveional treatment was not an option. so I went back to having 15 ground up apricot pits a day then after reading about vitamin C . I also added LIPOSOMAL ENCAPSULATED VITAMIN C to it as well. As I have read reports that say LIPOSOMAL ENCAPSULATED VITAMIN C is As Effective As vit c IV and you can do DIY for Pennies, So after I bought a sonic jewelry cleaner for $28.00. and every two weeks it cost me about $10.00 for a 125g pack ascorbic acid, and 10.00 for 400g soya lecithin Granules. (the aprcot pits I get for about $30.00 a one kilo bag.) After only a week on The LIPOSOMAL ENCAPSULATED VITAMIN C and the aprecot pits The pain and the lump are now gone. pray to God let just hope it stays that way. All the best Ray

cancer or????

ok,I found a small lump back in June the size of a pea near the bottomofmy right testicle, sometimes I can find it and sometimes I cant for the last 2 days,It has been hurting,I saw a plumologist about a week ago due to a CT skan showing 2 lumps on my right lung (on on the top of the upper lobe and one near the bottom), It doesnot hurt for me to pick stuff up, I can examine myself and "cough" and I dont feel a hernia, I really dont know what to think,as far as the lungs, both are 5mm in length,so I have to wait 4 months for another CT,in the past I had a land removed when I was 15 near the groin, 5 years ago I had a partoid tumor removed along with one opf my saliva glands and they were not cancerous,I am worried that eventually,it I keep having problems, that eventually one will be cancer, I was exposed to sencond hand smoke for about 8 years when I was in my teens, and than back in december of last year, I quit my job of 13 years, I handled products that had ground silica (sand) in it and it is know for casuing lung cancer, so what do yall think?????
