My father has been on Sutent (for metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma) at full dose for just over a year now with excellent results.  For most cycles, his side effects have been fairly manageable although not always the same.  During the most recent cycle he developed a new one that was first thought to be an infection, but now the doctors think might be related to Sutent -- he began bleeding from his navel area.  Has this happened with anyone else?

Currently on Nexavar but have read of possible bleeding from the Sutent. What are some of the other side effects that your father has experienced? My husband will most likely be switching to Sutent from the Nexavar soon as lung mets have doubled in size. I just would like to know what he may experience. Thanks you so much and best of luck to you and your dad.

I have on sutent for 3 cycles. I have some bleeding problems. My dr. reduced the sutent dosage from 50mg to 37.5mg. You may ask dr. to test the PLT level. Normal would be 150 - 450. If it is below to the normal level, your dr. may need adjust the dose to ease the symptom. Glad to heard the sutent did well for your father. What is the details of the results? Is the lung mets dispeared or shrinked?
