Subject: trigeminal neuralgia
Date: 03/02/2007
my husband had a radical neck dissection 4 years ago and has suffered with neck and jaw pain ever since. we have been to our oncologist who sent us to a pain specialist, who gave up eventually. after 3 trips to an er one doctor diagnosed him with trigeminal neuralgia and sent us to a neurologist who now believes it may be occipital nueralgia. has anyone else developed this debillitating condition? he wakes up (when he can sleep) everyday with what he describes as pain worse than an abcessed tooth. as a caregiver, i feel totally helpless. he can barely eat and can do nothing but sit with his head down. yesterday he was put on a combo of tegretol and neurontin and are waiting for results. please, if you have any experience with this i'd appreciate any info!
