I was diagnosed with non cell lung cancer Stage IA in Nov 2006. Before my surgery I had a PET scan. it showed a hot spot in in my LT pelvic region. Because I just had bladder surgery (bladder lift) I did not follow up on the pelvic hot spot. Now 3 months after my surgery I had another PET scan that showed uptake again in my left pelvic region. I had a ultrasound that was basically negative (small fibroid).  Now they want me to have an MRI.  Has anyone heard of false positive PET scans??  This is all making me nervous.

mmm?

Have you had a colonoscopy before? Hypermetabolic polyps will show in the pelvic region..just a thought, without seeing the scan or report it is hard to tell.  MRI is a very good imaging modality for soft tissue structures. It certainly wouldn't hurt.  If its negative, I would think about colonoscopy if you haven't had one.

hi! u seem quite knowledgeable: i wrote u a private message but since i had no answer, maybe u didnt get it: is it possible to read a ctscan without the contrast liquid? i have some kidney problems since my chemo finished 7 months ago & my onc said i shouldnt have the contrast: is this feasible? also, he claims that a pet scan isnt used for ovarian cancer, or does he mean that since i am in remission, it wouldnt show anything?

would appreciate  hearing from u, harriet
