Just Began Taking Sutent

I was recently diagnosed with Metastatic RCC in my left lung with enlarge lymph nodes. This is almost 3 years to the day after having my right kidney and a 10 cm. tumor removed.

This is my second day taking Sutent. Yesterday I felt fine, just a little tired.

Today I've been very tired and fell asleep often during the day. I also have been sort of achy and have a sort stiff neck. I know what the side affects are,  just didn't expect to have any so soon.

From reading some of the other messages, I see that most who take Sutent are on for 28 days and off for 14 days. I know that the bottle says the same thing, but my doctor said 28 days on and 6 mo. off. Has anyone else been told that? 

I'm trying to stay possitive about this whole thing, but there is so much that I don't know.

HI Donna....

 I was told by my doctor that we all react differently .....to sutent. However, I think most of us are taking it 4 wks on and 2 wks off ....so I would question your doctor, to be sure there was no misunderstanding..

All I can say....I was on sutent about 4-5 days before I noticed any side effects and it was a sore tongue, taste buds changed and a bad stomach. My blood pressure shot up ( I am on meds now) and it goes down a bit when I am on the 2 wks off.

 It helps to read what others have said in their messages but if anything serious comes up.... please call your doctor.

Hi DWorth,

When you say you had your kidney removed and a tumor, do you mean that it metastasized? Did you have a tumor in your kidney as well?
