Can anyone point me in the direction to get help and advice about the problems of broken bones.  My husband was diagnosed with MM 15 months ago, he has had a SCT and been doing fairly well.  However, following an xray we have now learned that he has multiple fractures to the ribs.  There is no pain involved.  Any help gratefully received.

this is a common problem in MM.  Make sure his disease is under control and perhaps Zometa for his bones and thats about all you can do.

 Dear Lucymac:

I walked around with end stage  M before being diagnosed included a fractured spine. My doctor did give me 4 doses of Zometa but after she found out about the side effects she stopped and sent me to a dentist.  Now I am still glad I had the 4 doses but anymore would have scared me:

www.resource4fosamxinfo.com/topics/other-osteoporosis-drugs.htm

read for yourself. I took large doses of coral calcium with vit D and also Triboron plus 4 caps with Vit d twice daily and especially at bedtime with a little fatty snack as it absorbs better.

Here are a couple of websites that specialize in supplements to heal MM into remission.  www.polymva.com and www.facr.org both these sites suggest poly mva as a supplement.  I used this by iteself but works well with chemo. In my opinion the revlamid has the less side effects.  The other 2. Thalidomide and Velcade openly state they are used when nothing is working and the have side effects ugh!!

Ro add natural supplements one can use 500 mgs coQ10 daily drink green tea, add lots of curry (tumeric) to food.  Tumeric is a natural antagonist of cancer cells.  These are just a few things that will help the overall well being.  Try a digestive aide to help get what food is eaten into the system.  This is not an  easy disease and I went to hell and back with it. I fortunately am in remission but not everyone responds the same.  Take care Elaine

Thank you both for your replies.  I am at my wits end to be honest as my husband is in complete denial that any of this is happening.  He even told our son that the doctor had looked at the wrong xrays!   To be honest I feel just like packing my bags and walking away; he's making me look as if I'm a liar to family and friends, and it's got so that I just don't want to have anything to do with it at the moment. Had a bad time over the past month or so as he's been in a lot of pain, been to the Clinic today for our standard 2 monthly appointment and he told the Consultant that he has no pain.  If I try to intervene it ends up with an argument in front of the medical staff so I sit there and say nothing now.

He has taken Thalidomide which has resulted in his losing the use of his hands due to peripheral neuropathy.  As you can imagine, this makes it very hard work taking care of him.  Sorry for this dreadful posting.  I might feel better tomorrow and can talk to him about nutrition, if he'll listen.

Thanks again.
