my dad's number keep rising he is on oxyplatin and xeloda, but the ultrsound does not show a tumor? Does anyone else have this experience. Is the radiologist just not experinced enough? In november pet and mri showed no tumors a week later ultrasond shows 5cm tumor. Does anyone know of a place where he can get the cyberknife or a tx that works. Frustrated I feel there is more to be done and this hospital is not knowledgab;e enough on the cancer

I am sorry for what you are going through. It all sounds a little strange. Where are you located, what state? Also, if the tumor is just in the Pancreas, there is the very common Whipple Surgery. If the cancer has spread there are good chemo alternatives.

Teaching hospitals are usually the best.

had whipple a year ago, mets to the liver two months later. my concern is why doesn't the tumor show on scans? Is it the radiologist or the tissue?

Dear Fellow sufferers.  Try all the search engines and put in type of tumor and ask for best scan to show tumor.  Some are not seen right away...It is sometimes the fact it does not show up and other times doc miss things but most radioigists are pretty good...Did your liver enzymes go up.  Look at the type of chemo you are all on and go put in the search engine "negative side effects of..." Sometimes this shows the reason for not catching a tumor or why it does not work.  I would also google alternative treatments for the disease each of you have.  All the best!!
