I am in need of advice for a dear friend.A brief background:
My friend lives in Belize, Central America. She is originally from Sweden, but lived for 20 years or so in the states and married to an American and has a son herein Brooklyn . She has been having mouth pain, headaches, \"tooth problems\" and a root canalwas started. Before the root canal was complete, a large mass under thetooth formed. She was put on three courses of antibiotics which did nothing but make her feel worse. The mass was biopsied and the pathologist )in BElize)says it is malignant. She also is having some pneumonia/shortness of breath , weakness and dizziness issues now, and is trying to get on a flight this Wednesday to the States, (Newark NJ). She has been feeling bad (headaches, racing pulse, pain, upset stomach) for a while. She has some insurance, British Fidelity, an international plan.
I feel she will be in very bad shape upon arrival(three planes to get to Newark) and I think she needs to go straight to a hospital when she arrives . It appears, from what I can find out, that Beth Isreal in Newark is in her network. The pathologist in Belize has apparently faxed the reports to a local UPS store for me to pick up tomorrow. Do you think I can bring her to the ER then and there and will they admit her, ANyone know anything about BEth Israel in NEwark. I tried to reach out to SLoan in NYC , but lots of red tape as she is coming international.
Should she just say she is coming here to see her son in Brooklyn(he is an American citizen) for could there be issues for her if she arrives ill seeking medical treatment.? Better she doesnt mention this as a reason for her visit? I almost wonder if she isnt going to be so sick at arrival that she may need to go directly to the ER.
I am so scared for her,. she is so sick, scared and basically alone. My means are somewhat limited, but I want to support and help her the best I can and be sure she gets the best treatment and care I can.
