You should also probably get a PET scan since it is more sensitive to ruleout lymphnodes and distant disease.

If Localized then you have two choices;

Radical Cystectomy

Chemo Radiation to try to spare the bladder

If in the lymphnodes then I would still do the Chemo Rads and you can still be cured.

Chemo Radiation is done in this way;

You get 5.5 weeks of irradiation concurrently with two cycles of Cis plat and 5FU.  Wait one to two weeks and recystoscope.  If tumor is gone or nearly so, then continue with one more cycle of Chemo Rads.  If no response or little then you go to cystectomy.

If you go the bladder sparing route, then you have be committed to close followup.  If the tumor recurs and is superficial (some are) then you can treat it with intra bladder chemo (BCG) and still keep your bladder.  If invasive then you need surgery.

i also had alittle hematura and a couple of small cots. went for physical and nothing further was checked. 1and 1 half years later with a little more of the same symptoms i went to a different dr for another physical. he sent urine to lab and it came back suspicious in the simple spin test. turns out i have t1 grade 3 tis and tcc with papillary tumors. what type and grade is yourcancer? invasive should mean only one thing. that it is through the lamina propria and into the muscle layer. otherwise it shouldn't be labeled invasive. if it is a flat field of cancer cells on the inner lining it would be carcinoma in situ. eithe way there was absolutely no excuse for missing this for you or for me upon your 1st visit. it most certainly would of shown up on the spin test or if not that a fish[urovision ] test. you will have to be proactive to help yourself. read everything you can on only the exact symptoms,grade, stage, and type of your cancer. if it turns out it has not invaded the muscle, start 6 instillations of bcg[ immunotheropy, this is not chemo] immediately. if this is not completelyeffective after 3 mnths start 6 instillations of bcg/interfuron for 6 wks. go to bladder cancer website cafe'. find dr lambs site. or dr odonnell.both are world renowned in this field. do not delay. and do not take what one dr alone says.  by the way, although my cancer was not invasive, [it had not gotten to the mucsle layer] it was still grade 3 highly aggressive. 3 turb's, 6 wks bcg,6 wks bcg/intron, mitomycin after each turb, and i am now clear. however i will start on dr lambs protocal theropy soon and try and keep it at bay. take oncovite, amust during this time period. good luck and let me know how you make out. ernie
