Just heard!

Hi All

Just found out that my mother has been diagnosed with inoperable PC! She went in to hospital feeling ill and had a stent inserted into her blocked bile duct, with some complications (renal failure, collapsed lung) have since been told that things are quite grim, however being her only child she has chosen not to tell me about the PC, yet I am fully aware of the situation. I have to wait for her to come to terms with it and tell me herself. I can't stand the wait and wonder everytime the phone rings. I have already been through a situation with her a few years back when she suffered a subarachnoid haemmorage and spent significant time in the hospital. How do I pretend that I know nothing and continue with my life knowing that hers will end soon? Is anyone else in a similar situation and can give me some advice?

You hang in there best you can.  There is alot of support out there and you can NEVER give up hope!  When we found out about my Mom we felt like the ONLY people in the world...and we ran into alot of dr's that amazingly didn't offer much hope.  It is a very scary outcome- if we let ourselves listen only to the statistics and all- but there are SO many survivors out there and who's to say which percentile you will be in.  The best thing will be to remain positive for your Mom and when she is ready- do everything to make her not feel alone-  I have found a deeper faith thru all of this and, while the outcome might be weeks, months, or years- believe that there is hope and hang onto that to the end!

I will add you and your Mom to my prayers-

Maria
