I just want to let all of you know that I found this website and find all the forums so helpful. My healthy, active, amazing mother just got diagnosed on Thursday with stage 4 gallbladder cancer. They originally thought, after cat scans showed tumors near her ovaries, that it was ovarian cancer, however, during surgery they discovered it started from the gallbaldder. Who would have thought any of this would happen. My mother is being very strong. My 22 year old younger sister and I ( 25) are doing everything we can to get her appointments with the best Gallbladder specialists. My parents live right next to NYC so we are in the process of making appointments at Sloane Kettering. I am going to go back and read more of your forums. I just wanted to write and thank you again and give my heart out to all of you who are going through the same thing I am right now. Best wishes, Morgan

Hi,

My mother as well got diagnosed with stage IV Gallbladder cancer in March. It has been very difficult to make appointments out of state with specialists in this field. How did your mother succeed in making appts. at Sloan Kettering and elsewhere? If anyone has any suggestions or helpful advice I am anxiously waiting.

Thanks,

Ariela

I'm in the same boat--my lively 61 year young mother was diagnosed this past week and I'm working to get her somewhere.  Her oncologist hasn't returned our calls in the last two days and we're not even confirmed the official diagnosis.  This process is crazy.  I wish there was an easy solution to the maze that is cancer treatment.

Hi,

I'm sorry about your mother. My mother eventually made an appointment with doctors at John Hopkins and Sloan - Kettering. You just have to be aggressive with them in order to get an opening. I wish you all the best.

Thanks for your message.  My mom is being treated now at Hopkins--had her first chemo treatment last Thurs.  How about you and your mom?
