It is with such a heavy heart that I tell you my Mom (my best friend) died on March 3 with Stage IV melanoma.  It was only 3 1/2 months from first diagnosis till we lost her.  She did the radiation route and was on a 42 day protcol of Temodar since it had spread to her head.

Please keep me in your prayers as this is so over-whelming for me and the rest of our family.  Mom was never sick a day in her life,  We had a big party planned for my parents 50th anniversary.  It's so hard because we lost my brother on Sept. 11 - he was a FDNY firefighter.  As a very close family we were just coming out of the fog of losing him.

I will pray for all of you out there.  I know the day to day struggle of trying to do EVERYTHING to make your loved one better - the best research, the bets doctors, and the daily caregiving. Sloan Kettering dtrs were good as well as local oncologist.

Family is the most important thing - so continue your journey and may God bless all of you.

Feeling a bit lost....

I am so sorry for your loss. Please don't lose your faith in God. Pray to him. Ask him to help you through this and give you strength. If you truly believe then he will be right there beside you to hold your hand and heal your heart. My heart goes out to you  and your family in this terrible time.

 Casey:

Let us hope a lovely spring wind will come to soothe you.  What a great sadness you are suffering. Our prayers are with you.  It is so hard to loose a parent suddenly, even if you know they are ill. YOu will be lost and saddened for a long time.  And it is true time helps us with our sorrows but we never forget we usually just handle it better. Both my parents are gone, my Dad died suddenly of a heart attack, young, so I feel your pain.  These things just make us stronger.  I had been through a lot before I came down with "no cure" cancer but it made me stronger and here I still am, so Never give up. someone always cares...Elaine

My heart aches for you. My mom has stage IV melanoma and she has just finished a round of Temodar. This is her 4th treatment and the last three times it has put her in the hospital after dropping her blood counts. You are the first person I've found to have had the same treatment for their mother. My mom was diagnosed back in October 2006 and has even had CyberKnife treatments, which didn't work either. She now has 4 tumors all within her abdomen and groin areas. I cherish every minute I have with her as she becomes more and more tired and seems to sleep an awful lot. There are no words to express how much your email touches me. May the precious memories you have of your mom sustain you in the days, weeks, months and years to come. Knowing that someday you will all be together in Heaven and the circle will be unbroken. God has comfort in his loving arms. Let him hold you and comfort you. He is the reason I can go on. Keep the Faith -- God is with you. Sincerely, Charlene

As a stage IV melanoma survivor myself, my heart goes out to you. I am twenty four years old and I was diagnosed at 16 years old. When my cancer came back I was so scared. We did high dose Interluken 2 treatments at the University of Michigan Hospital cancer center. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The treatments were horrible but I am two years with no signs of cancer. I pray everyday for other melanoma patients, its not an easy road. Good luck with your mother. And for the message above, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am 34 years old with 2 children and my husband is dying - he has Stage IV which is now everywhere including his brain where he has a tumour the size of a tennis ball.  He is so tired and so different now - my children aren't even at school yet and he is going to leave us - I feel for your loss - my mum had breast cancer and she is still here but I know what you feel like.  Some people talk to me now - some don't know what to say and ignore me - my heart is breaking - I am so sorry you lost your mum to this most evil of cancers - I am determined when this is over to raise as much money as I can to help them find a cure for this horrible thing x

Ann,

I now know what you and your family have had to endure, especially you.  You are a wonderful daughter.

Your brother was waiting to greet her in heaven.

Your mom and brother are watching over you now.  I hope they are watching over us too.  I think they are.

 I will call you soon.
