Misdiagnosed

I just found out my mom was misdiagnosed.  The doctors first said she had advanced pancreatic cancer but after the biopsy of her tissues, she now has aggressive diffuse Large B cell - non hodkin lymphoma? 

Would any one have an info on this?  For all of us, this is a blessing that she has this instead of pancreatic cancer because the doctors told her if she pancreatic cancer she would have been dead by summer.  With lymphoma (after her chemo) she will have a good few years or longer (with a chance of getting rid of the cancer completely).  Does this sound accurate?

yes, thats absolutely correct. Your mom has a 99% chance of living for another 10 or 20 years.  For me, it is 13 yrs so don't worry about anything. Just pray with your mother for God to give her strength to get through the chemo and thank God that she does not have the pancreatic cancer. Blessings to all of you.

It is very wonderful hearing that my mom will have years instead of months to live. 

She has started her first cycle of chem last Monday.  She must have 6 cycles, 21 days apart and then after that she should be good for 7 years or longer.  

With your cancer, did you have to undergo chemo? if so, how many cycles? Is there any advice you can give regarding the treatment or her diagnoses?

Good to hear from you. Yes, I went through chemo - twice. The first time for 6 months at three week intervals, then one week off. The second time, it was for 6 months also - 24 hrs a day. I wore a fanny pak on my body and had chemo pumping into my body 24/7.  This was not at all pleasant but I got through it, thank God. I then went through 25 courses of radiation to shrink the tumour.  All is well.  Take care and keep me posted on your mother's treatments.  Keep the faith.

Hi again - was so wonderful to hear from you. Glad your mom got started on her treatment and she is now "on her way" to recovery. Its been awhile but if I remember correctly, I had about 25 radiation treatments and the chemo just seemed to go on and on. But it did come to an end. Just be there for your mom. She will probably be very tired as this is a side effect. Tiredness and not wanting to eat was my problem. I am taking an alternative treatment and have been on this for 6 yrs now. I heard about it from a friend and did some research on it and it is safe to take. Whether or not it works, I don't know but I do know that I am still alive. So I will continue taking it. It is called MCP (modified citrus pectin). I take 6 capules a day (with lots of water). It costs me about $120/month but in the U.S. it is much cheaper. You will find this at better Health food stores.  Make sure the bottle says (modified). The pills are supposed to contain a substance that is similar to the chemo we take. It goes straight to the tumour and is supposed to shrink it and the tumor will eventually disappear. Good luck and keep me posted.
