Hi, I know it's been awhile since you posted your message and you've probably found the info you're seeking but I just wanted to reply, just incase.

My name is Kay and I received my iliostomy in November 2005 and the surgery itself was a 100% success and I would recommend it as an option to anyone speaking with a surgeon about this alternative. Due to complications totally unrelated to the surgery itself I am not ready to have that reversal and not really sure if I will ever take the steps to have it done.

As for feeling the need to have a bowel movement, I still get them today.  If I have the time I head to the bathroom and go through the motions.  It took awhile to relax when the feeling would come about while outside the house but certainly appreciate the pouch for that very reason these days!

Any other questions, dont hessitate to ask.

 Kay
