I set up this account for my mother in law. She found out a few weeks ago that her doctor found precancer cells and says its VIN 3 if im not mistaking. And to be completly honest she's absolutly horrified. She's trying herbal suppliments heard to help aid in killing cancer such as esiak and tea tree oil. I've done research to see how to dilute the tea tree oil but what she really needs is to know what to expect. I just want to find information that will help her, not horrify her worse than she is. They have decided with how bad it is to do laser surgery but she doesnt know what to expect. Whether they will send her home with a drain tube to go to the bathroom, whether they will keep her over night, anything. If anyone has gone thru the surgery, please let me know. She doesnt have access directly to a computer but I've been printing off everything for her so anything helps. Also if anyone has tried this "Esiak" (i could be spelling it wrong) or tea tree oil to clean down there let me know as well. She feels completly alone and I'd just like to try to help.

Funny you emailed....I had a wide local excision for vulvar cancer on April 4. I read a great deal and would NOT have done the laser surgery. It takes a lot longer to heal. I had a partial vulvectomy after they went in and saw what they were dealing with. I left the hospital the same day..the swelling is unbelievable but everything functioned. No catheters or anything. The pain was way less than I imagined and I barely took any pain medicine. I highly recommend using "condom slushies" ...a condom filled with ice water. It can be laid on your crotch and conforms to the shape of that area...really helps reduce swelling. It is now 1 week after surgery and I am back at work...though I wish I wasn't. Read up on the laser suregry...I read only negative things about it...they also cannot do a good pathology on laser samples to tell if they got it all...with a wide local incision they can. I have no regrets. Please email me with any questions at all...I felt very alone with this.

Well she was actually supposed to get the surgery yesterday and she has a bacterial infection they think so they are postponing it. They say her white blood cells are waaaaay too high!! But basically its covering everything outside of her vulva.

also the funny thing is the doctors just kind of said they were going to do laser surgery. they never really discussed options that i know of but apparently even with the laser surgery and basically burning everything off they will not let her go home with a cathader... they say it will just burn!

Hi,

I just diagnosed last week with vulva cancer and I am going to have two things done at the same time. The first is laser surgery and the second part is a partial vulvectomy. My understanding (although I could be wrong) is the laser is less invasive and disfiguring. I will need stitches for the part they cut out.
