Here's an update on my dad from when I posted a few months back.

Last week the surgery to remove the spot on his liver was an apparent success, however, he now has the hiccups kinda bad. He was prone to this when on chemo but several days after he got home from this last surgery these started and the medication to stop them (Thorzine) isn't doing much good. Any ideas on what to do? Mom says it is happening because they disturbed his diaphram during surgery somehow.

My late brother in law was prone to hiccups. He said a doctor suggested he he sugar on a spoon very slowly.I guess something about the feel of the granulated sugar in the throat helps it to stop. Sometimes he used a few more spoonfuls, and slowly it worked.

I have recently had the hicups following my sixth cycle of chemo. The oncology nurse mentioned that anti-emetics (anti nausea medications) frequently take care of the problem. You may want to ask.

A flight attendant I knew said the best cure was to tightly wrap a paper towel over the top of a large, full glass of water and drink through it. It works because it forces you to drink slowly, or take little sips slowly.
