Subject: JAK2

Hi All My Partner went for his JAK2 test yesterday so I have been looking for info on this. Thankfully we have a few medics in our family; they have been forwarding me some info with regard to the cause of this disease. Some of the info seems relevant but I was hoping to get some more clarity. See the NCI report below for what we have found out: "A specific point mutation in one copy of the Janus kinase 2 gene (JAK2) on chromosome 9, which causes increased proliferation and survival of hematopoietic precursors in vitro, has been identified in the majority of patients with p. vera and idiopathic myelofibrosis. Researchers are pursuing specific targeting of this aberrant protein." As I am unsure how old this info is, you may have heard of any further developments with regard to this research, please help me fill in the gaps. Thanks loads
