Hi Doc

I´m a Costa Rican 31 years old. Doctors find me an urachal cancer, they removed with half a bladder and 10 ganglions.

One ganglion came positive but all biopsis made the surranding areas came negatives

All that was on august september 2006.

Past mont docs find trhu a Ultra sound and Tomography that maybe one more ganglion is with metastasis bucause they saw a little ball right next to my bladder and also  a focal lession on my liver

I m still positive. What concerns me is that docs gave me chemo, XELODA and something called like ioxiplatinun (for colon cancer). That seems not work.

2 questions 1) can you recomend me some chemo theraphy

2) how much can cost to be treathed at your hospital ???

Thanks.

Excuse my grammar and writting.

Which physician are you referring too?  It sounds like you need additional treatment with chemo and radiation.  Is the liver lesion though to be cancer??  If so and given your age that should be treated aggressively as well.  Urachal Ca is very rare and it is an "adenocarcinom" as opposed to a transitional cell of the bladder.  Chemo will not control it by itself.  To have any chance , you would have to have Combined treatment.  With a positive lymphnode initially you probably should have had chemo and post op radiation up front.

Hi Angel   I too have urachal cancer and the doctor found in sept.  too!!

I have had half my bladder removed and belly button, but the tumor was 7 cm and had spread to one lymph node at that point. I was sent to bigger hosptial for treatment and more CT scans but they told me it would be best if they took the whole bladder and as many lymph nodes as they could get. This meant they would have to build a new bladder out of my bowels and I would have to learn how to pee again. I has all set to have the operation on feb. 19 they opened me up and found the cancer had spread and decied that chemo would be the best , because they were lucky to even see the spots of cancer and they didn't think they would be able to get it all. they closed me and told me that I would need chemo because the cancer had spread to the left lymph node now and it is back at the site of the frist surgery and there are spots of cancer throughout the belly area.I  now have chemo for what they would give someone with bladder cancer it's not that bad!! I just hope it works!

I live in canada and I am 35 with 3 kids. I hope you can find answers you are looking for. It's very hard even here in Canada for the doctors to know what to do with this cancer.I am so lucky I live in Canada because we don't have to pay for health care , it takes alot of the stress out of being sick. I am sorry that people have to go through that.

Hope to hear from you soon

Christine

witchdoctor I too have questions on urachal cancer - what is the treatment for urachal cancer as far as chemo? because I am on cisplatin and gemcitabine which I was told was used for bladder cancer. What I read on the message board is always something different than what I am given!
