Looking for info, support, advice, whatever on small cell cancer, my type is small cell vaginal.

Just got biospied two weeks ago and am still waiting for official results from LAC+USC (Los Angeles). My oncology appt is on Monday, April 9, 2007. I am trying very hard to eat spinach and other things good for me and not lose my mind until my appt.

I am 44, have no insurance because I am poor (not because I am stupid). Everything I read on this cancer says it's really nasty, only 12% survival rate. And I am the 26th person reported with it in medical history. Rare is not so good, I am finding out, except on Ebay.

I am hoping other small cell neuroendocrine tumors or other vaginal cancers have some similiarities, something I can use as a indication of what is ahead. So I am reading posts, searching the web, trying to be rational.

Wish me luck.

You need chemo radiation , just like in the lung.  You are  correct , extra pulmonary small cell is bad.  But I have seen 3 or 4 in the last year and they all seem to be doing well except one (90 year old, could not have chemo, controlled in the pelvis (10cm mass) but recurred quickly in the Liver.
