I am so glad I found this website. I thought that I was the only one that has Essential Thrombocytosis. I found out when I was 27 years old in Nov 05, my platelets count was 1800, the doctor told me to take hydroxyurea 2500mg everyday until it goes down, but it cause me to have migraine headache everyday. When my platelet went down to 650 and now I am taking hydroxyurea 1000 -1500mg per day. My migraine has gone away, but there are times I have a bad one. I have days that I feel really tire and sick, but I don’t let me stop me. My body is loosing iron and B12 from the hydroxyurea. I took iron pill for 6 month everyday, but it does not work, so my doctor is giving me iron and B12 shots once a month now. My body is dry from inside to outside, it affecting my sex life, it hurt when I have sex. Anyone have suggestion on resolving my sex issue? I have tried everything and have talked to my doctor, no help.
I am getting married next year and I want to try to get pregnant right after, but I am afraid the baby side affect. My doctor said he will put me in a different type of medication, and I should have a healthy baby, but I am still worry and afraid. I am doing everything to keep my body healthy and ready to carry a baby. My dream is to have a baby, doesn’t matter a boy or a girl. I just want one and it will be a blessing for my fiancé and me.
One good thing about this disease is I feel bless everyday that I a fiancé, families and friends that is very supportive.
I pray everyday to everyone who has this disease or any diseases. Pray that we all go through this together and not feel we are alone. Pray for a cure.
