Hi Guys,

I have not been writing much my sister Lousa is keeping you all informed on Eddie. Well Eddie overcame the bloodclots  and is now back on his Chemo,he also recieves 2 injections of  Clexane a day ( to thin his blood). His appetite is good with most things staying down and we are trying to bulk him up ready for his operstion on the 29th May ( not sure what type of op yet ). He does get very tired at times and  cannot do anything ( even moving around in bed is a problem) but when he is up and about and doing little things he is well. He gained a little bit of weight back ( from what he lost) still quite skinny but not looking so gaunt.

His problem now is a feeling of something burning when he eats this started when he had some noodles ( which I think had a few spices in) he only ate 2 spoonfuls and said he could not eat it and ever since he's had this  burning feeling when he swollows.  IU gave him a Rennies but it did not seem to help and ideas what to give him for this.

Thankyou everyone for all your good advice and you are all in my prayers.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter.

 Mary

Good to hear from you and Eddies clots have been taken care of. Kevin has had a "cocktail" that he was first given at CTCA. There it was called "Taylors Cocktail" (His Dr. is Dr. Taylor) It's a stomacitis mixture. Here at home I think the ingredients are a little different. (At the Cancer Center there was lidocaine in it.) But the mixture he takes now has benedryl (diphenhidris?) and I just looked, it does have licocaine in it. Then it says antac - I assume an  antacid agent.  It not only helps him swallow with less pain, but also helps his stomach. He was also taking another mixture - can't think of it right now. Some kind of phosphate drink. So, there is something he can take for the burning. Assuming it's ok with Eddies other meds.  Take care - Sonda

Hi Sonda,

Thanks for that, I am going to ring the Onc Dr for an appt tomorrow so I can discuss various things with him and ask him about the antacid stuff.

Hope kevin is still going well, when they are doing well you also seem to be fine but when they are down ...........:-(

Today Eddie is full of energy and he is eating everything, last week he had a couple of days when he was so very very tired he says he cannot even remember much of those days ( I was so scared) but they have passed and today is a good day. Tomorrow is another day.

Your e-mails are much appreciated and you are such a caring person,

so like Louisa says a great big hug to you and Kevin from Australia.

You are in my prayers always

Luv Mary

I am glad to hear Eddie's blood clots have been taken care of. Those are frightening.

My mother was also VERY tired from chemo. It was a tired like she had never felt before. Of course her blood was low and she had had several procrit shots as well as a B12 shot. If you have read any of my other postings then you know she was in the hospital about a week ago. So see had a time of it. I am happy to report she is feeling better and getting a little stronger each day. I am sure Eddie will get his strenght back.

I know exactly what you mean about the good and bad days. I know seeing Mama on those bad days really takes a toll on me too. It is so hard to see someone you love so much have to go through this. The good days are such a relief and a blessing.

Hope you had a nice Easter. Love and prayers, Pat

Hi Pat,

Glad to hear your  Mum is feeling much better. Its a real good feeling when your loved one says they are feeling a bit better.

Today Eddie seems to have more energy than I have and of course while he is pottering about I feel I must also be pottering with him ( when all I want to do is sleep).

Things are good for Eddie right now , hope it lasts.

Had a wonderful Easter at my Daughters with the Grandchildren age 2 yrs and 5 yrs kept us on our toes and gave us lots of laughs. Came home very tired but wll worth it.

Thankyou .

Prayers for you and your Mum will be said.

Luv Mary

HI CJ

We went to see the oncologist yesterday and he is very pleased with how Eddie is doing * he is eating like a horse, only thing he has problems with are bread and sausages but we now use Mountain Bread a bit like a thin pizza  base, the oncologist said all his blood results etc are fine and now he will write to the surgeon and have us see him ( the surgeon that is)before Eddies operation date of the 29th May , we will discuss the type of surgery and all other pros and cons. The oncologist will not see Eddie again until after his surgery unless we have a problem.

So I think all the prayers and kind wishes are really helping.

Thankyou for caring and my prayers and best wishes to you all on this list/

Cheers Mary
