I never came accross anybody else with gall bladder cancer and I never thought to google it, I'm kicking myself now, I really could have used this forum a year ago.
My mother died 6 months ago from gall bladder cancer, aged 54, she survived a year after diagnosis. Initially, we received nothing but misinformation from the doctors partially because the doctors didnt know anything (never saw another case in this country).
Once you know what you're dealing with in terms of stage and treatments the best thing you can do for your family is talk to them and prepare them. My mother (and it was very hard for her) took aside her youngest (12) and spoke openly with her about the illness answering every question as sensitively and honestly as she could. That child (now 13) was able to adjust and accept it in consequently was able to cope when her mother died because they has discussed every posibble outcome between them and it took the fear out of it for my sister because in the end, she knew this was ineviteable and my mum had told her it would happen and my sister, although very young, was able to adjust and accept and react.
At each stage of the illness, we got the information and I think communication and open expression is what got us through it.
