My wife is a 5 year survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. She had a successful Whipple operation at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Because of the low survival rate of this cancer it has been hard to obtain information on quality of life issues after surgery.
Her problem arises from severe gastroreflux during the night resulting in severe vomiting. The various medications that her doctors have prescribed to eliminate the vomiting have failed to do so. The diagnosis seems to be that either her stomach muscles or nerves were traumatized by the Whipple and no longer move the food through the digestive system properly. She has gone from 200+ pounds prior to surgery, to 110 at present.
I am writing this in hope of finding someone familiar with this condition that might shed some light on remedy or solution to her problem.
Thank you,
John
