This is all new to me, and I will read up on it, but how do they determine the Stage level?  I've heard that all my life, but I don't know what it means.  Obviously the higher number is more serious. My husband has surgery on a mole with melanoma next week.  We are in shock and trying to figure it all out.  He is a 17 year survivor of throat cancer.

they determine when they do the surgery they will see the depth of it and let you know. i had surgery in october of 2006 and my surgeon staged me a one. my melanoma is .066mm. i also had several lymph nodes taken out as well even at stage one.

GOD BLESS, stephanie

That is just what I needed to know.  My husband has a CT scan on Monday morning, a Nuclear dye test on Monday afternoon and then the surgery on Tuesday morning.  Thanks for sharing your experience, Kay
