Subject: Myelofibrosis

My dad has myelofibrosis.  He just turned 64.  His bone marrow no longer makes red blood for him.  He is on a cancer injection 2 times a month.  His spleen is large.  He is losing weight and is now complaining of sever shoulder pain.  I just wanted to see if anyone else if familiar with this.  Thanks.  DeannaMarie

Dear DeannaMarie,

My mother has myelofibrosis, we found out a few months ago since her spleen was enlargened. She has just turned 49, which seems to be a young age to catch this disease. She is right now under observation, the doctors want to see which speed the disease has on her. We are hoping for a transplantation in the future, and that the disease is calm...
