Hi All, We have now had the same advice from the “Top Man” (he does 70 of BMTs a year), tell us that the best chance for a cure for my partner is a BMT! However we have just landed an appointment (in 2 weeks time) with a Professor who specialises in rear blood conditions (including this particular condition) and he believes a BMT should be our last resort and we should look at alternatives to slowing the progression of the MF. (This is more along my way of thinking… so I was very happy!!!) I will let you know what he says when we see him, (I am very excited) as he is well regarded in his field and VERY difficult to get an appointment with. In the meantime, good luck and good health to you all! MA

Hi,

Good luck.

I am very  interested in what he suggests as I have unstable high/intermediate risk MGUS

Best Wishes

Sue

Hi Swong64uk We have found that improvements to his diet has helped his bloods although his platelets are on the higher side... He is taking 1/4 asprin a day for this amoungst other things, such as pomegranite juice (when we can afford it) Vit C powder, apricot kernals (vit B17), Liver cleansing suppliments and anti oxident suppliments (free radical scavengers). All these things should be available in your healthfood store, so I guess ask for the best brands. Good luck with it all, sorry it has taken a while to get back to you!

Hi,

I am curious what you found out from the specialist you saw for rare blood conditions.  I am in the beginning stages of deciding on treatment for my MM and am 48 years old.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to get back to you... life has been busy at this end. The entire diet is about building the immune system, so with that in mind here are some ideas that he put forward (we are embracing those we can stomach but some are more of a struggle eg: apricot kernels). Chappie suggests: •No- salt, sugar, caffeine, white flour, chemicals, preservatives or pesticides. Use organic produce only. •Instead he suggests :K-salt or "no salt", Caro and herbal teas. •Minimal fat intake. •NO red meat. •Moderate Protein. •Free Range and Bio-dynamic chickens and eggs. •Small deep-sea fish. •Juices as much as possible from a juicer: carrot, spinach, Parsley, beetroot, parsley. •1/2 cup of raspberries per day. Supplements: Vit C powder. Pharma liv (liver tablets). Deluxe Scavengers-Metabolic maintenance. EPA/DHA+. Useful therapies (non of which my partner is really ready to embrace are: •Apricot kernels (20+). •Wheat grass. •Vit C injections. •H202 I/V drip. As I said earlier these are one mans suggestions in talking this and I would take all of this to your Haematologist for his OK first. Good Luck!
