Subject: HELP!
Date: 04/25/2007

I was diagnosed with vulvar cancer just last week by a dermatologist who specializes in this sort of thing. She sent me to see an OBGYN who does the surgery and he said he felt it was severe dysplasia (VIN) - which is one step down from cancer. I called the first doctor back to get an explanation on why she said it was cancer and not VIN and I am waiting for her call back.

Now I am nervous. Who do you trust??? The first doctor did the biopsy in one area but mentioned that part was white in colour. There is a piece at the back that is dark pigmentation that she did NOT biopsy.

I can tell you I cried all weekend and hope that these to doctors can make up their minds. I am scheduled for surgery on the 23rd of next month. Has anyone else any ideas or been through something similar?

 Thanks, Mys

Could be both but as there is such a disparity of opinions, I know you are upset, try to focus and see a third oncologist gynecolgists who knows a lot about cancer.  You can also contact www.cancercare.com  the have live help by phone or instant messaging (without having a instant messaging service it is built into their websit)  These people know how to help you.  As this is not a dire situation you have a few weeks to work things out. Be sure first before you commit to any sugery, as to what these doctors are treating....
