This is my very first message on any message board so here it goes: Does anyone know of anyboby with ET who has also been diagnosed with breast cancer? I was diagnosed with ET in February 2001 at age 39. We decided to try to have a child and went from Anegrelide to Interferon while trying to get pregnant and (fortunately) during my whole pregnancy. I had a wonderfully healthy baby boy in May 2001 (3 weeks early) after some struggles. A couple of issues came up after pregnancy including a severe drop in my platelets after getting back on Anegrelide (platelets so low that even hand count generated less than 100 (not 100,000) and another issue was potential kidney loss from the interferon. Fortunately both were resolved and life went on smoothly. Now in April 2007 I was diagnosed with intermediate growth DCIS breast cancer, not yet sure about lympth nodes. I am getting a mastectomy/sentinel node biopsy/reconstruction done this Friday May 4th. I am curious if anyone else has come across this type of diagnosis or am I just lucky enough to beat the odds? Docs say ET has nothing to do with BC. Thanks for any info out there!!
