We thought we would qualify for clinical trial using Erbutix but found out today we are not getting it.  As I lokk outon the board alot of you havegotten it.  Please tell me how we can get this and if it was beneficial to your treatment?

I had Erbitux together with Cisplatin for tonsil cancer with 2 involved lymph nodes.  I had one treatement per week concurrent with radiation, for 7 total treatments.  My treatments ended on October 25, 2006.

You can google Erbitux to find out more information about its use for treatment of head and neck cancers.

You may want to ask your medical oncologist why he considers Erbitux part of a clinical trial.

Best wishes,

Chris

Hello All,

We live in the San Francisco Bay area, and Jeff got Erbitux for his base of tongue squamous cell cancer.  No cisplatin!  The Erbitux was really not so bad until his rad and chemo stopped.  Then he got a very nasty looking rash on his face from the Erbitux.  It took about 2 weeks to clear up.  Otherwise, no nausea or other bad stuff.  We felt VERY LUCKY that he got Erbitux.  But it is NOT in clinical trials, at least not for oral cancers.  Its been in practice for about a year.

Ask your Dr. why you can't get Erbitux, and make sure you get a REAL answer.  I often got unsatifactory answers from Drs about drugs that I read about, and I just kept after them to give me an answer that made sense.  Don't let them "get professional" with you.  You deserve the truth from them, even if the reason is that they are prejudiced against the drug.  This was true when we were turned down for Amifostine.  Dr. just didn't like the drug.  UGH!

Susan
