Premature Celebration

I have learned that PET scans are not the last or best way to know if there is a problem.
After months of chemo/rad my CT and PET scans 2 weeks ago showed NED.
But this week during an endoscopy my gastro-guy (in Tampa) found two areas that looked suspicious. He clipped each for biopsies and we'll know the results Monday. Naturally, he refused to speculate but by his facial expression Anna and I could tell it looks like the monster has returned.
I knew I wasn't cured, but I'd hoped the vacation would have been longer.

My mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer 2 years ago and had her whole stomach removed. They found cancer cells in her esophogus and lymph nodes. She received chemo for 6 months. She too took PET scans, CT scans, biopsies of the esophagus and of course lots of blood work. None of them showed any signs of cancer. She underwent these tests every 3 months. She had her gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago and saw that the cancer was very present and has returned. The doctors doubt that it ever went away. It's funny how doctors will always tell you how much time you got left on this earth. She is still going to fight. They gave her 2 months to live 2 years ago and she made it through. They again gave her 1 - 6 months. Her oncologist may be sending her to clinical trials. Her appt. is Wednesday and I will be going with her. I've done a lot of research and there is treatment for everyone. Let me know how things go with you. Mira
