We are in need of any information, contacts, resources, services etc. that will be able to assist us.
My 46 yr old sister was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in oct. of 2003. This has been a very stressful and emotional time for our whole family. Thank the dear Lord that she has since responded very well to her chemo treatments and is now awaiting a bone marrow transplant. She lives in Phoenix but the procedure will take place in Tucson. Our small family has pulled together to be as supportive as possible and we have all tried to help out financially as much as possible but it is very difficult.
She and her family are in need of any financial assistance that may help them cover the cost of travel and lodging both during and after the procedure. She does have unsurance that will cover the transplant however she is in need of some dental work that needs to done before the procedure can take place otherwise the insurance will not cover the transplant.
Unfortunately she does not have dental coverage and her husband has not been at his job long enough to qualify for benefits.
We are in desperate need of any information that any one can provide us as to where we can look to for any kind of assistance and resources.

Contact the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Multiple Myeloma is a disease of plasma cells and is one of the blood related diseases that LLS provides assistance for. If a patient qualifies, they offer $500 a year towards transportation, gas, transfusions and certain medications. You can ask them about the dental work. Also, see if there is a dental school anywhere nearby. Dental schools often have clinics for uninsured people and charge for care based on income.
The LLS website is www.lls.org, and their toll free number is 1-800-955-4572.
Best of luck.
