Im only 18 years old and i just got diagnosed with HPV. My yearly pap came back abnormal, i was told that i had mild dysplasia, i went and had the colposcopy done and then i found out that the dysplasia went from mild to moderate. Thats when my Gyn told me that i had HPV. I just have a couple Questions for anyone that has had the procedure done.

1 Since im not good with procedures, will they let my husband come in with me to comfort me?

2 Is it possible for them to put me to sleep for the procedure or put me in a hospital for the procedure?

Hello,

I had LEEP procedure 3 weeks ago.  I understand your fear because I did go through it.  I am very sensitive to pain.  Sometimes even Pap smear was painful for me and kolposcopy was just horrible experience.  But my doctor recommended that I go under general anesthesia, and I did.  I did not feel anything and woke up after everything was over. Good Luck!

They did not allow me to go in with my dayghter, but she was admiited to the hospital and under general anesthesia for the procedure.  She did very well.  She tends to faint and even had a mini seizure from anxiety, so the hospital was a good place for her to have it done.  Ask your doctor and be sure it's something your insurance will cover.  You'll do great.

At age 16 I was diagnoised with abnormal cells and did a procedure called freezing to remove these cells.  Afte then I have gotten reading of abscus, HPV and CIN 1.  In April of 2010 at age 34, my pap smear came back positive for malignant cells which was furthe explained to be cancer.  A LEEP was suggested.  I did this in the doctor office, fully medicated, my husband who is extremely supportive tells me what took place.  I did not bleed, I only have watery discharge and wears a panty shield for the past week since the surgery.  No pain to date, gone back to regular exercise.  I tend to show more love to the family, try to take better care of my health and become more spiritually aware.  I was told to avoid sex for 1 month.  But I have been creative and following the orders.  My doctors call on a regular basis. I tell my friend and family, I am so cheerful that they become so surprise.  I believe there is a God and it could have been worst.  My tissues are not affected to date.  I love life.
