Osteonecrosis Of The Jaw

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with osteonecrosis of the jaw as a result of IV bisphosphonates (Zometa, for example). My husband was diagnosed with stage IV neuroendocrine cancer back in Oct 2005 (unknown primary site). His chemo treatments for the first year included an infusion of Zometa, as he had some bone lesions, and we were told that the Zometa would help keep his bones strong. All of a sudden my husband's mouth started to bother him, and we found that he had exposed jawbone in his mouth. This happened back in Dec 2006. I would love to hear from anyone who has had this happen, and what the long term effects of this may be.

Thanks,

Jodi
