Has anyone else finished their Carac treatment and then been EXTREMELY raw? I finished up my three weeks, then it dried and cracked, and now most of the scabs have sloughed off. I thought I'd be feeling some relief from the itchiness but I'm not, and the pain now is actually worse and I'm red, shiny and weepy. Is this normal? How long until I don't hurt and the redness subsides? HELP!
Dear Mzzzmo,
By now you have realized the benfits of the Carac treatment. I assume the worst is over and your skin is clearing up, rarely itchy and quite beautiful.
For those looking forward to this treatment, I found this message board of great help. It gave me courage and keept me in touch with other people experiencing my situation. I also found valuable tips, vaseline worked wonders for awhile. The most important information that I realized is each person responds differently to this treatment. I used Obagi, a skin treatment regime with Retine for 4 months prior to using Carac. The Obagi treatment prepared my skin for the next step and my reaction to the Carac was immediate and very profound. I used Carac 2x a day for 15 days. On day 15, when I visited my physician he said "that is enough". My skin was blistered and burning. There was no need to continue the treatment. For the next week my skin cracked, itched and burned but each day it was better and easier. I am now at day 17. My skin looks a bit pink, but the skin tones are even. I look 20 years younger. I expect to use thistreatment again in a few years as I have a tendency for both BCC and SCC. I also have a history of Melanoma. Bottom line. Take care of yourself, love yourself and follow your doctors orders.
