My dear mom in law had the Whipple done a month ago for Ampullary Cancer.  She is 'staged' at:  T4 N1 M0    Please, will someone please be honest with me and tell me what I think I already know? Because it is stage 4, and has one lymph node involvement - can I assume she has less than 2 years? 1 year? Will chemo add just a few months to her life? Please, please, someone must know!!

Your very lucky they could do this procedure. Some cases are in oper. She might have a fighting chance. Although I have seen the ugliness of this type of cancer. Truly and honestly nobody can give you a time. Not even the Doc. I was told my Father had 3 days two months ago. I have learned a person who gives you days or months is just playing God. Every BODY is different and each withstands less or more.

My husband had a whipple 9 weeks ago, pancreatic & lymph nodes,

It has been real tough,  he has lost much weight, but as he gets stronger, we are trying to start to live again... we have gone for  drives,  he takes  walks around the pool, we have gone out to dinner (although he eats so little), and the next project is a movie.

We are trying to make the best of the life we have now...we are not thinking of how long, because no one really knows - its all up to a higher power, so we are trying to have quality just in case we lose quantity.

I don;t know if this helps you, but in our case, we need to LIVE to the best of our ability - while we can, and as he gets stronger, we will do more perhaps even travel again - until we can't

Lots of luck to you, I pray things go well, and your mother-in-law can enjoy everything for a long time. Give her lots of love and positive thoughts

Toni
