Subject: Any guidance would be helpful!

Hi, I am new to the board.  I am a 25-year old male and in good health.  About a month ago, I discovered a lump on the base of the right side of my neck about the size of a pea.  I went to my doctor and he told me it was a swollen lymph node and we should wait a month or two to see if the lump goes away or grows bigger.  I waited a month and the node has not changed.  I went back to the doctor yesterday and he thought he found a second swollen node a little higher up my neck, but much deeper.  In fact, I can't really feel what he is talking about.  He said that both nodes are not big enough to be clinically significant (they are both less than 2 cm) and suggested I wait another month to see what happens with them.  I am having no other symptoms and did not have a cold or flu before the first node appeared.  I did recently have a CBC test and the only abnormalities were a slightly evelvated hemoglobin (17.7 g/mL) and slightly elevated Calcium (10.3).

After reading a bunch on stuff on the internet, I am a little concerned about waiting another month to see what happens with these nodes.  Can anyone give me any advice?  Do my symptoms seem consistent with Lymphoma?  Should I seek advice from an ENT immediately?

Thanks for the responses in advance!!

You have answered your own question, get a second opinion, this is your life, you are young, a few years younger than my son was.  This site if full of patients whose doctors just waived it off such as your situation, then later it was cancer..

Would encourage you get a second opinion and have nodes biopsied.

Go get a second opinion, your instinct is telling you too.  See a specialist in this area.

IMHO, as a recently diagnosed NHL patient, you don't need to hurry.  But I do agree that you should get it checked out by someone else.  While it's very unlikely you have something cancerous at your age, it's possible.  (I'm 30, and it's been suggested my NHL took several years to get where it is now).  If you're facing something cancerous, and it's not growing/swelling fast, a few weeks is not a big deal.  But do schedule another appointment now.

Since in my case, my skin especially in my legs was extremely itchy for a long tie along with the swollen lymph nodes i am wondering if you are having any itching or other skin symptoms??  If you are I highly recommned get a biopsy.  i also had elevated eiosinophills in my blood test for a long time along with the above mentioned symnptoms..

all the best.....however dont worry and stress about it cause that can only make things worse...
