Hi:  This might be a repeat. Do not think my  last message went through, but anyhow my name is Susan and I am in remission with CML since July of 2001.  If anyone needs to just share or have any questions that I might be able to answer I would be glad to hear from you.

     I was not a candidate for a BMT, and achieved my remission on a dose of 400Mg. a day of Gleevec. I Thank God Everyday.

    I am due for my check-up on my remission in June.  Sometimes you just need somebody who is going through the same thing to talk to.  My e-mail is

hi  my dad was just diagnosed with cml about 6 weeks ago, and he just started out when a low dose of chemo called arcee...it was in the hospital to have the ultimate chemo ...full blown one...but they found out that his heart was to weak,..to handle it according to the doctor, he would be against my dad going that way...so now they started this arcee,...injections 2 daily...he is 61 years old and he just finished going thru his 10 day...now we are waiting to see what happens next...

Hi Cindy:  I do not know what arcee is.  I think you might mean Ara-C

I originally was on Ara-C with Interferon, and it did not work. I am now on Gleevec, which is a type of Chemo, but its just a pill you take everyday. If your Dad is not doing well, maybe you should ask his physician about Gleevec or another new drug called Sprycel.  I hope this information helps you.

thank you for responding ...i will take that advice ..well the doctor that is seeing my dad right now told us a couple of days ago that she seen 1 percent of the blast go up the positive kind i forgot up or down anyways she said she ..we will have to wait about 2 weeks to see any difference if it made any...but thank you for your advice...were here at standford hospital in palo alto calif,...thank you..any advice for any thing else...thanks

may i ask how long you were on aracee. and how many runs did you go through i can be reached at email if you don't mind emailing me back i and my family are very out there on left field so if you can assitance us on any thing you went through or any thing ...we would appreciate it so much...thank you...from the soto family
