Hello! I am writing a grant proposal to get funding to
provide therapeutic massage and acupuncture to women
with breast cancer.

If you have had experience with massage therapy, please reply to this message. Thank you!

Yes -- I did have message thearpy when I was going through Chemotherpy. It was wonderful -- my insurance denied my doctors request for this treatment, so I was only able to afford four messages. It was worth every penny. The chemo-body feeling, tension and stress associated with treatment is difficult for someone who has not experienced it to understand. The relief that I experienced is something I feel every one going through cancer treatment could and would benefit from.

Good luck on your grant proposal -- if I can answer any more questions -- let me know.

Hello! Great idea! But, why just breast cancer patients? I have ovarian cancer and I thoroughly enjoy getting a massage!! It is very therapeutic and helps to stimulate the immune system. I certainly feel, as well, that insurance companies should pay for them, or at least perhaps a certain number of them per year, with a doctor's recommendation. Keep us posted.

Hello!

I just found this message, and had forgotten that I had left it here!
Things are going well, we did get funding from the Susan G
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (that's why we limit to breast
cancer patients) and we have been getting great results!
Increasing quality of life and decreasing pain and helping women
understand what they can do for their self!

We also offer acupuncture, yoga, meditation, and nutrition
classes!

We are in Chicago, IL at Mercy Hospital.

Feel free to email me with any questions!

My name is Sabrina Wix and I am a massage therapist student. I now know how well massage treatments work for cancer patients. My mother is a survivor of breast cancer going on three years. When I started massage school I didn't know the effect it would have on cancer. But after helping my mother I now know how well it helps. If anyone is interested in receiving a massage just e-mail me and I will give you a good rate for treatments. Also if anyone is interested in the state of Indiana it is not licensed and we are going to the state house Feburary 8th, for a protest for them to start licenseing it.

                                           Thanks,

                                         Sabrina Wix
