Positive Story

I was diagnosed with 1st Stage Non Hodgkinson's in Dec 2004. I think it was large T Cell and it was fast growing. Apparently the fast growing form is easier to completely cure but more life threatening if you do not.

I had 6 x radiotherapy on my spine [ I had it in lumbar spine area which is rare ]. Then 2 weeks later I had 6 courses of CHOP [ Chemo ] with 6 doses of Rituximab and still remain in remission [ touch wood ] in May 2007.

Emotionally it can often hit you some way down the line because during your treatment you are so focussed on the physical recovery. After a short time it becomes like a distant nightmare. And I must say that, for  all the promises I made myself in hospital, i.e better diet, regular exercise etc haven't come to flurition like I had hoped. Just be aware the brain tries to heal itself by putting your feelings under the carpet and you can soon forget all the promises you made to yourself and your family. And on another note it does appear to be one of the most treatable forms of cancer, even in stages 3 and 4.
