I am scheduled to have a lymph node biopsy next week.  I would like anyone to share their similar experience with me so that I might have an idea of what to expect.  I have had a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck for about six months.  Thanks.

Hi I have had four axillary tumors removed for biopsy. It isnt muchat all. For they put you to sleep. Mine was out patient procedure.  It was the anticipation that was worse. But once it was over. I really worried for nothinbg. I didfind out I had cancer. But it was a relief to know just what was wrong. So I coukld then deal with it. May God Bless you. Carla

Hello! I was just wondering how your biopsy went? I am going to call on Monday to schedule my biopsy this coming week. I am very nervous and scared. My lymph node that they are going to biopse is across from my pancreas, unfortunately, it is not in an easy location. Which makes it even scarier for me. I hope all is well for you. Please let me know how your experience went.

HI, I recently had open surgery to  remove some cancerous lymph nodes for diagnoses. They were near my pancreas, in the retroperitoneum area. These are more difficult to get to I guess. I ended up staying in the hospital for 7 days. I guess my insides would not cooperate and "wake up",then I had some low blood pressure problems. I was diagnosed with small lymphocytic lymphoma and am being treated with oral  Chlorambucil and prednisone. My tumors had three worse prognosis markers but I am not worried..I have since met a couple of other people who have been in remission for a few years. Good luck with your surgery.

Audrey, Thanks for the information. So before the surgery did you have a biopsy that reported cancer in your lymph node? Were you having symptoms? How old are you ? My recent biopsy came back benign, however, my oncologist ordered bloodwork that is a tumor marker for lymphoma. I'm waiting for those results. He also stated due to the size, 2.1 cm, it deserves to be kept an eye on every 3 months. But if the blood work comes back concerning he wants to open me up and remove it. So I am keeping positive that all comes back well. Good luck and I am keeping everyone who is suffering from cancer in my prayers.

God bless, Celena

Hi,I am 69 years old. Last winter, around January I started getting frequent respiratory infections. I began to have high fevers and night sweats for about a week or so. I have  some emphysema and see a pulmonologist  on a regular basis. My doctor ordered a Ct scan of my chest and it revealed a mass near my pancreas. We then did a Ct of the abdomen and it showed several rather large lymph nodes .Lymphoma was the tentative diagnosis. I then had a PET  scan which  showed increased metabolic activity in the nodes. The nodes were inacessible for needle biopsy .I had surgery May 16 2007 which confirmed the diagnosis of  chronic lymphocytic  leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma. I do not have the leukemia, the cancer is just in the B-cells so far..I am taking prednesone and  a chemo called chlorambucil. I recently underwent all the initial tests again, ct's and pet scan and bone marrow biopsy(ouch). After 8 weeks of treatment they will repeat the tests to see if any improvement has been made. This has all happened so fast I am still  reeling from it but after watching my husband  battle pancreas cancer and die quickly from it I guess I am lucky to have the kind of cancer that can be held at bay for long periods.I wish you good luck .

Wow! That is a lot. I will keep you in my prayers as I do everybody who is suffering from cancer, along for myself that cancer does not appear in any of the tests, since I will be continued to be monitored by the oncologist due to the size of the lymph node.
Take care!
