I am in treatment with Taxol and Carboplatin. I
have never experienced a rash on my baldhead
before. I have tried many lotions and
recommended things, but nothing seems to help. I
want to itch my head all the time and I have
raised bumps on the nape of my neck. My Doctors
do not have very many answers for this. Please
Help? Any suggestions?

I have had good results with skin rashes using enemas! Yes - you read right - ENEMAS. You can used warm distilled water with a few cloves of raw garlic which you have chopped finely. Lemon juice is also an option to add to distilled water. Coffee enemas have a cleansing effect also. There is much information out there about this therapy. Once you have gotten past the first one it is easier. These enemas are great therapy for headaches and respiratory problems. I use this therapy personally and it DOES work.

I am also takining Taxol, but with Paraplatin, and have an itchy rash with red bumps on my nape. I found that avoiding a wig or form fitting hat and going with silk scarfs helps. As far as a cream, Benedryl lotion seems to help as much as anything the Drs. have prescribed.
Hope that helps.

My sister had the same problem when recovering from brain surgery and found that using Aloe gel totally relieved the itching and cleared up the spots.

I'm also on Taxol and Carboplatin, and I have the same rash-red bumps on head and nape of neck. My doctor prescribed Benadryl (the pills) to help fight the itching, and Hydrocortisone lotion. The lotion doesn't seem to do anything. I think the Benadryl has helped the itching, but it was worst right after a chemo session and is getting less itchy as time goes on-though the bumps remain. I'm going to try the aloe.
