Subject: inconclusive ct scan...please help!!
Date: 06/05/2007

Hello! My name is Megg. I am a 30 yo female with a golf ball size lump just above my collar bone. This started out as a pea sized lump in November. I finally decided to seek the advice of my dr. He sent me to get a CT scan with contrast and it came back inconclusive. I am so confused and wondering if I should seek another opinion. Has anyone else had inconclusive (i.e. didn;t show up on the scan) ct results? Please, any advice , thoughts would be so greatly appreciated.

all the best, megg

Most swollen lymph nodes are not cancer, however you are wise to be concerned.  Other symptoms of lymphoma include night sweats, fever, weight loss, itching and in some patients pain in the lymph node after alcohol consumption.  The only way to be sure of a diagnosis is to biopsy the lymph node.  If this doesnt resolve over time or with antibiotics then you may need to be persistant with your doc to get it resolved.

They initally told us not to be concerned with a finding of a tumor in my abdomen back in Dec.  As I continued to not feel comfortable with the wait and see approach.  We pushed forward for some concret answers, worked our way through 4 doctors and several tests and 1 surgery, we finally have an answer of leiomyosarcoma.  Luckily with our fortitude we caught it early and we do not need chemo or radiation, just more surgery.

If you aren't comfortable then push forward for the answers you need.

Good luck
