My beautiful, 61 yr young mother went in for a routine gallbladder operation last week when PRESTO they found malignancies. They removed the galbladder and biopsied the liver and found more cancer in part of the liver and the bile duct. They also found Nodules on her lungs so for these reasons she is not a candidate for surgery. They attempted to insert a stent yesterday but was not able to, due to the obstruction. She now has a drainage bagaand is coming home tomorrow with it. She does not know the prognosis of this type of cancer and it is too horrible to tell such a fun-loving positive person. She is being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and was turned down by Sloan Kettering due to Insurance. Does anyone know of any other options in the NY area? I know surgery provides a much better chance than chemo alone - any other suggestions? Open to alternative medicines.
