Pain in upper abdomen/diaphram area

My sister has stage IV colon cancer with two mets to liver.  She is getting CPT-11 with vectibix.  Her doc says many of her symptoms are coming from the disease, not the chemo.  She is now complaining about upper abdominal pain in her diaphram area.  She says it is "tender to the touch,"  as if she has done too many sit ups.  She also says that it (her abdomen)  feels "hard" but not bloated. She is taking tylenol for the pain so it is not excruciating.  She doesn't see her oncologist until Tuesday, and she is very fearful and is very passive.

Is anyone out there familar with these symptoms?  Her dr. says she is not a surgical candidate.  We know that  when she had her colon resected in March 2006, the surgeon saw cancer in her omentum.  Is anyone familiar with that?  Her first line treatment last year was Oxiplatin/5FU/Avastin, and it was very, very, successful.  But her disease returned two months later with a vengeance.  Now it's even more fierce.

Any info would be helpful.  Blessings.

I may not be much help to you, but my mother is having the same symptoms as your sister..I took her to the doctor a couple of days ago and he says that her liver is starting to malfunction and shut down..The bloating and pain in her stomach is fluid that the liver isn't processing correctly..She is not a candidate for surgery due to her age and the fact that she has COPD and she cannot tolerate chemo..The doctor is giving her only months to live..

Hospice has been called in and the doctor also said that her pain can be controlled with pain medication, so, at this point they are trying to keep her as pain free as possible..She is doing pretty well although her appetite is almost non-existent..
