My husband had a basal cell carcinoma on ear, had it taken off, came back, had it done with Mohs surgery, came back, had 30 sessions of radiation, came back and has now gone into his brain and jaw bones. We are desperately trying to find a surgeon, neurologist and another surgeon who can do a flap as he will have to have his entire ear removed and they will have to go down to the skull. Very dangerous surgery we are told and not much hope. I have him on Essiac tea and all kinds of cruciferous veggies while we are frantically trying to find the right surgeon. Any experience, strength and hope on this would be so appreciated.

Has the doctor used the term Metastatic Basal Cell Carcinoma.  My husband diagnosed 11/05.  Started with large lesion removed by Mohs surgery in 2000.  Has swelling in arm and the basal cell cancer was found in lymph nodes, already spread to lungs.  Have you seen an oncologist?

Talk to an oncologist about chemo.  It sucks, but it works.  I'm a mohs tech for a dermatologist so I know what your husband has already been through and it's no fun.  Neither is the chemo, but you've already tried the first line treatments.  BCCs are so dangerous when they are ignored, or not diagnosed in time.  People don't realize the potential dangers of metastatic BCC.  They think, oh it's just a basal cell, no biggie.  Most times that is the case, but once it metastasizes it's a whole different ball game.  Definitely see an oncologist that is familiar with dermatological cancers.

 Best of luck!
